about Louise's work
My love of drawing is captured through the drypoint print process, which enables detailed marks to be recorded on the plate. I enjoy experimenting with unusual surfaces on which to print as I often work with collaged elements.
Car boot sales and charity shops can provide a wealth of one-off finds that give my work a unique feel. My personal favourite collage items are maps, particularly the linen backed ones.
My current series of work on birds stems from living in North Yorkshire and the part they play in the rural landscape. I have also become aware of some species’ diminishing numbers – many of which we grew up with in our back garden.
